The creator.
As first of the trimurti Brahma is the god who causes the appearance of the creation.
He is born from, and sits on a lotusflower, sprouted from the navel of Vishnu. Therefore he is also called Padmasambhava (see Narayana).
He has four heads, to watch all four cardinal directions. He carries the four Vedas in his hands; they contain the plan of the creation.
He is married to Sarasvati.

Als eerste van de trimurti is Brahma de god die de schepping veroorzaakt.
Hij is geboren uit, en zit op een lotusbloem, die ontsproten is aan de navel van Vishnu. Daarom heet hij ook Padmasambhava (zie Narayana).
Hij heeft vier hoofden, waarmee hij alle windrichtingen beschouwt. Hij draagt de vier Veda's in zijn handen, omdat die het plan van de schepping bevatten.
Hij is gehuwd met Sarasvati.
